8.1.3 Information guardians versus stakeholders
In most organisations, individuals can be split into one of two groups:
Guardians – those who are responsible for information collection, analysis, updating and security.
Stakeholders – those who use the information and have a stake in receiving information that is both timely and relevant.
The first step in ensuring that information collected is timely and relevant is to break down the barriers between these two groups.
Activity 3
Reflect on your answers to the following questions.
- Who are the main guardians of information in your work group?
- How can each of these groups use the power inherent in their position within the organisation?
- What suggestions do you have for breaking down these barriers?
