1.2.6 Managing a global enterprise
In the introduction to Chapter 1 you were made aware that international business has some similarities with, and some differences to, domestic business. As we end Part A of this chapter, it is appropriate to specify the reasons why managing an international business is different from domestic business. There are four major reasons:
- countries differ one from the other
- the range of problems and the complexity faced by the manager of an international business is greater than those faced by the manager of a domestic business
- trade policies and the legal system is different between countries
- different currencies complicate the management of international business.
