4.15 Multicultural agreement on investment (MAI)

Between 1995 and 1998 the OECD promoted discussion to liberalise rules governing FDI between OECD states. The discussions foundered because of resistance from environmental groups and trade unions and the MAI is 'dead' for the time being. However, be aware of its existence and read about it on pages 256-257 of your textbook.
