9.8 Export assistance agencies
Your textbook (pp. 546-547) gives details of US institutions which provide financial assistance to US exports. They are the Export-Import Bank (Eximbank) and the Foreign Credit Insurance Association (FCIA). To these we should add a third which is involved in the export of agricultural goods. This is the Export Enhancement Program which subsidises exports of US wheat in particular.
Activity 9.5

Most countries provide government support for exporters. Australia , for example, has an Export Market Development Grant scheme which was noted in 'Identifying export opportunities' above as one of the facilities provided by Austrade. Australian banks, however, are the principal source of finance for most Australian exporters.

We leave the topic of export assistance here but will return to it in Chapter 12, so meantime, read the section on this topic in Chapter 15 of your textbook.
