3.5 Summary
As a marketing executive or a manager with some marketing responsibilities, you will not usually be expected to carry out marketing research yourself. Unless your firm is large enough to justify having a marketing research department, you will need to hire the services of a research consultancy. However, you will need to know how to brief the consultant on your information needs, evaluate the research design they propose, interpret their findings and consider their recommendations. This chapter has provided you with the basic tools to begin to do that and the rest of the expertise you will have to gain from practical experience.
