6.2 Product concepts
To help clarify the definition of product, we shall first examine the total product concept used for tangible products before moving onto the augmented service offering suggested by Grönroos (1990) for conceptualising the service product. Do not be fooled into thinking that research 15 or so years old is no longer useful. Grönroos (1990) provides a very useful means of dividing a service into different components. Many organisations could find value in approaching their service in the strategic fashion identified by Grönroos (1990).
