5.2.4 Interpersonal effectiveness

Developing and maintaining interpersonal relationships requires specific communication skills and abilities. The humanist model presents five qualities of effective communicators and the pragmatic model concentrates on specific attributes and skills that promote a positive interpersonal relationship [DeVito (1989) as cited in Dwyer (2005)]. Table 5.4 in your textbook illustrates these qualities and skills.
