8.3.2 Types of visual aids
There are many tools available to produce professional visual aids. Advances in computer technology make it possible for computers to be used to generate many forms of visual aids. Large quantities of data can be easily and quickly made into graphic representations such as charts, graphs and tables (see below for examples). Tables communicate specific quantitative data that can easily be confused when written or spoken. Charts and graphs are more useful than tables in showing trends. In general, they do not provide as much precise information as tables. However, while tables, charts and graphs can be used to display information, they can also conceal or distort information - leading to false impressions and misguided decisions.
