8.3.3 Modes of delivery

You need not always use state-of-the-art computer mediated technology to support your presentation: many consultants use coloured pens and a flip chart to illustrate the presentation as they go along. This way, the information can evolve with the presentation and any ideas suggested by the audience can also be written-up.

You can use various modes of delivery depending on the context of the situation. For example,

  2. Search the Internet for sites that provide good visual support for their information.

If you have PowerPoint on your computer, or you have access to it, and you have never used it before, try it out. Explore the program using the help menu. Programs such as this are extremely useful for preparing and delivering your presentation.

Once again, remember that visual aids are just that: it is always your skill as a presenter that is of paramount importance. It is true that some people have natural public speaking skills. However, that does not mean that those who don't can't learn. The most important component of presenting is the preparation. Even a short speech requires preparation to ensure effective delivery.
