5.7 Summary

In this chapter we have primarily looked at information as a vehicle for supply chain integration. Information has been identified as a key enabler of successful implementation of supply chain strategies. The gain from information integration is seen to be positive for all aspects of supply chain management and for all firms, provided a mechanism for sharing the benefit can be established. The value of information is generally well perceived and sharing of information has enabled firms to reduce the level of inventory and to reduce lead time.
