7.1.2 What are Hazards?

The law requires the employer to identify and control workplace hazards. A hazard is defined as anything with the potential to cause injury or disease. Hazards can effect people, property and processes as follows:

People - Injury, illness, death, psychological trauma;
Property - Damage, contamination, theft and wastage;
Processes - Work disruption and interruption to production.

It is the employee's responsibility to report hazards.
It is the responsibility of the employer to provide a safe workplace.
