2.5.1 Master Schedule
A Master Schedule is often used as a term to describe how organisations place actual orders into time slots, product by product.
A related form of planning is Rough Cut Capacity Planning or Resource Requirements Planning . This is often undertaken in conjunction with the master production schedule to test its feasibility and the capacity of the organisation to meet the likely capacity plans.
Rough Cut Capacity Planning is the process of testing the feasibility of master production schedules in terms of capacity (Adam and Ebert 1992:375).
