3.1.2 Classifying risk

As suggested in the figure above not all operational and environmental consideration can simply be managed into a low risk quadrant. Some activities are higher risk because they are leading edge and intended to secure competitive advantage. Others may simply involve factors where risk can be mitigated but not removed. Quite simply, the managers need to know what are the risks, how much control can be exerted and how important is it to manage the risk.
