4.1.2 Setting achievable outcomes
The guiding principle of project management is for the final result to satisfy the project sponsor (customer) within the promised time-scale and without using more money and other resources than those which were originally set aside or included within the budget
Project management is therefore essentially about delivering a plan that will:
- State the purpose and what agreed outcomes will look like;
- A single point of management;
- Work breakdown structure (WBS);
- A means to visualise, configure, prioritise and management critical paths (means to get to the agreed ends);
- Responsibilities and reporting relationships;
- Trends and variables that may need to be managed; and
- Client relationships.
