4.3 Scheduling project tasks and activities
Parkinson's Law states "Work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion". This means that many people do their work to fit whatever time frame. This sometimes leads managers to contract the time frame so the work is done more quickly which can cause stress when the contracted time is insufficient to do the job.
The ideal schedule requires co-operation between:
- The key participants doing the work.
- The customer requirements.
- The capabilities of the enterprise.
The most common and most inadequate form of scheduling is a timetable. For example:
