Activity 2

Complete the following steps in a simple project planning activity.

Mr and Ms Smith have booked to go on a 24 day holiday. They leave on Sunday, May 1st and return on Saturday, May 24th.

They will fly the first day and arrive in London the second day where they will spend three nights. Then they travel to Paris the next day and spend that night plus four other nights in Paris . Mr Smith flies the next day to Rome and spends that night plus three others in Rome . The next day he flies Athens and spends that night plus three more nights there. Ms Smith leaves Paris the same day as Mr Smith but flies Amsterdam where she spends that night plus two extra nights. The next day she flies to Vienna where she spends that night plus one extra night. Then she flies to Venice where she spends that night plus two extra nights. The same day both Mr and Ms Smith return to London where they spend that night and the remaining nights of their holiday before leaving on May 23 to fly home on May 24.

They must book their accommodation and travel before they leave.

Their spending money is being paid for by Ms Smith out of her weekly net salary of $1,000 beginning Friday 29 April, two days before they leave, and which is paid into her bank account every Friday. It then takes three days to transfer the money to a relevant overseas bank. Both Mr and Ms Smith need $500 each per week.

Write a flow chart of the travel plan for Mr and Ms Smith describing what days they will be doing what or where they will be. Then tell the bank on what day they should send Ms Smith's salary to where and in what amounts to cover Mr and Ms Smith's separate needs. Then advise Mr and Ms Smith in what cities they can pick up their spending money on what days.
