Introduction
This study guide comprises instructional material and exercises for the Web Authoring component of the CUF30601- Certificate III in Multimedia qualification and includes the following competencies:
As the name implies the Web Authoring component relates to the authoring of Internet based solutions and provides students with the opportunity to develop an understanding of the processes in designing and developing a fully functional website using industry standard software such as Dreamweaver MX.
What you need
To complete this module you will need access to the following software:
- A text editor such as Notepad (Windows) or SimpleText (Macintosh). These come already installed with the computer's operating system.
- Macromedia Dreamweaver MX . A free fully functional 30 day trial version is available to download from http://www.macromedia.com. If you wish to purchase this software, educational versions are available for students at extremely good prices.
Assessment
The assessment for each section of this module will be completed by successfully finishing and submitting a variety of exercises to your teacher. The Web Authoring component will be assessed in the following order:
- The first section will focus on introducing you to the Internet, HTML basics and the fundamentals of website structure.
- The second section will introduce you to the fundamental processes of designing and creating a website. This section comprises a range of exercises which are designed to introduce you to using Dreamweaver MX. Some examples of what will be covered include how to define a site, create a web page, insert tables and images, format text, use Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and use of anchors.
- The third section will involve you in undertaking a project which focuses on the design and production of a website (to be negotiated with your teacher).
