Introduction to Web Publishing
Welcome to lesson one of the Web Publishing module. In this lesson you will briefly investigate the history of the Internet, learn the basics of web publishing (this includes a hands on tutorial on writing HTML), and undertake a tutorial on how to use a WYSIWYG editor, in this case Dreamweaver MX.
This lesson is to be completed in the order presented within the Main Menu. To do otherwise will create confusion as each section will build a knowledge base which will help with the next section.
The objectives of this lesson are as follows:
- Develop an understanding on how the Internet developed.
- Understand what HTML is
- Understand the advantages/disadvantages of a text editor & a WYSIWYG editor (Dreamweaver MX )
- Fundamental understanding of basic HTML tags: body, heading, paragraph, numbered list, list with bullets, link, image, table, table row, table cell, horizontal line, and break
- Write a simple HTML document
- Edit an existing document in Notepad
- Develop a basic understanding of the interface for Dreamweaver MX
- Use basic tags to create a document in Dreamweaver MX
- Edit existing HTML code
- Create text and image links
- Insert and align images
- Format text and page
- Create a table
- Save and print a page and the HTML code for the page
- Convert an existing document to HTML
